Every Leo club in Sri Lanka and the Maldives sits at the meeting point of three stories — an international federation, a youth programme, and this multiple district's own.

Where each story begins
Read them in any order. They converge on the same page: a Leo club chartered by a sponsoring Lions club, running its own service.
1969 — today
Multiple District 306
A team of cricketers chartered the Leo Club of Wattala as the first Leo club in Sri Lanka. One multiple district became two, then three, then six, then the twelve districts of today — and in 2023 it reached a second country.

1957 — today
The Leo Club Program
A high school baseball team in Abington, Pennsylvania, sponsored by a Lions club, became the first Leo club. Ten years later Lions Clubs International adopted the programme worldwide, and Leadership, Experience and Opportunity were named as what it stood for.

Lions Clubs International
Melvin Jones asked a room of Chicago businessmen what would happen if they put their talents to work improving their communities. What grew out of that question is the organization every Leo club charters through.

The chartering records
MD 306 supplied the multiple district's own dates in August 2026, and they are published above. What is not here yet is the finer archive — when each district was formed and from which parts of which, and the charter date of each club. Those are held by the districts and the Secretariat, and they will be published against each district and each club rather than as a list on this page.
